As someone who has played this game for almost a year on the mobile app, I had to laugh at those that say it's only a play to win system.Do you buy a FPS (First person shooter), and immediately jump into the elite squad? No, you wouldn't. So why would you expect to be able to PVP immedaitely? I've heard the complaint about being a pay to win with every TCG out there. Even MtG, which you have to pay for the software, could be classified as such. This game is about building yourself. As an officer in a successful guild, more than 60% of the members have never spent a dime in the game. And yet, they are powerful members. If you have the expectation that you will hit the floor running into PVP, think again. It's about building your character before you can do just that.Spellstone is about clearing maps (PVE) which gives you gold, which allows you to "buy" cards from a goblin in your airship. Those cards can be anything and of any rank. You use those cards to better your deck so you can tackle harder areas. When you have multiple of cards, you can merge them into duo's (2 of the same) and 2 duos can become a quad. Each one has different art.Much like MtG, cards (all creature) are broken into classes: dragon, angel, goblin, and even frog (there are many more). Those classes cycle during the year, giving you bonuses. For example, dragon and frog are the current two: dragon give a health regen buff every round to all your dragon cards, the frogs lash out with their tongues poisoning your oppenent's creatures.Overall, the graphics are good and tame, but I never thought them being childish, and I am 50.If you are looking for a great game that takes time, I'd recommend Spellstone.. I have a lot of hours in this game and i will let you know right now, this game is p2w. It's not like FPS games that are f2p where you can outplay an opponent who has better weapons from buying the with real money, the games whole point is to make money, f2p players will find it a huge grind. There are a few cards (3-4) which are extremely op the devs do not nerf cards ever only buff but still these op cards are in the decks of all the people who have put thousands into the game and you will never get to the top division unless you spend a couple of hundred. You can get strong cards if you're f2p but p2w get them much faster, over the last few weeks a couple of decent cards were given to everyone, you upgrade them by getting dust by competeing in events and the p2w guys 20 will get the card maxed out months even a year before f2p players.the level between the highest tier (ruby ) vs the one i'm in. which is the 2nd highest(platinum) is too far that requires no skill just money. i'm not saying any of this in a salty way, the only way to be at the top in this game is to spend a lot, no point in playing if you're f2p, everything is just a huge grind to get good cards which are nothing compared to p2w cards. I finish top 40 every week and i am miles behind the rest above me.. A colorful card game. Slightly unique in that it doesn't rely on mana or points when choosing a card, rather cards have various inbuilt "play delays", dependant on how powerful they are. The card game comes with its own back story, although not as rich as some card games I've played.Make up your own mind with this gameplay: https://youtu.be/YhYDMkmNML4. It is true pay to win gets a huge advantage, but for us f2p the experience is about grinding and i think it is very fun and addictive, besides it feels amazing crushing the P2w whales on arena.. great game good concept only that payment is♥♥♥♥♥. The more you play Spellstone, the more you begin to understand it for what it is. It's not something you can speedrun or play in one sitting. It's not the kind of game that you sit down to spend a weekend grinding. This game is an investment, a marathon, a way of life. Once you start to take this game seriously, you've got the app on your phone and your checking on it every couple of hours, joining alliances of the strongest guilds and competing in every clash and guild war.But the game actually has a very low barrier of entry. The total simplicity of the card crafting, upgrading, and fighting makes for a really easy-to-play casual game. It has a decent storyline with solid rewards and a convincing difficulty curve, and the cards themselves are well-drawn, easy to understand, and feature an exciting evolution-esque upgrade system.I have never found another CCG with such simplicity. The other games in this genre are saturated with over-complication and such absurd strategy that even after finishing the tutorial, you still don't know how the game works. But Spellstone's simplicity made me fall in love with it at first sight.Spellstone's a free-to-play CCG, so it's obviously pay-to-win; that just comes with the genre. An energy system also restricts the amount you can play in a single session, but there are so many things to do that you can play the game for hours at a time without waiting for recharges. You can compete for rewards constantly, in both PvP and PvE, earning premium cards for the performance of both you and your guild.Obviously, like all games, this one has its issues, but it's free-to-play and full of features.. Gr8 M8 I Definitely r8 8/8 m8. Spellstone is a really fun CCG, but be aware that it's extremely P2W if you want to compete with the top guilds. But, it's absolutely possible to play and enjoy the game without spending a penny! The community is absolutely fantastic and you can join Guilds with up to 50 members. Some of the bigger guilds have several sister-guilds with internal recruitment systems in place.Game is available on mobile, kongregate.com and now on steam so it's very accessible. There are several events going on at any time, from Guild Wars and Raids, to Dungeon runs and both Personal and Guild Clash.Developers are quite busy adding new stuff all the time. Lately we've gotten PVP systems, in-game mail, multi-faction cards and much more. It has to be mentioned that developers are very greedy and think very short term fiscal gain for themselves, but they do listen to feedback and they are very active.Try the game for free, see if you like it. If you do, decide if you want to be completely F2P or if you want to spend like $10 a month or something for a small daily shard income that can be used to purchase new cards with.Try to join a Guild early on and be part of the community which is very active on Line (chat program) and on the Kongregate forums.Enjoy![DF] Obitom. Spellstone is a great game, quite adictive.Pros: Very easy to play, nice graphics, big veriety of cards and types.Cons: You have to spend A LOT of money to TRY to get a nice deck, spend money dosnt guaranty you will have a great deck, the refill time of the action bar takes to long to refill, if you are a veteran you can play about one hour a day and that will be it. So, if you want to have a good time and not spend any money I think you will have a hard time. But the first month you will have a lot of fun.
